Setting up at our home dojo, Wilson Park Sports Complex!
It's a fantastic venue for a judo tournament.  Seating capacity for 500 spectators.  It did not take long to setup  4 competition areas.
Is it straight?  Up? Down? Left? Right?
I thought Sensei Ed said these mats were really light.. like our mats (1mx1m)?

Two mat areas completed and only two more to go! Hey! Where did those 4 SBJ setup kids go? Another break?

Ed Shiosaki, head instructor SBjudo welcomes everyone to our 10th Anniversary Tournament.
Ed gives Carl Kamerle, City of Torrance Senior Sports Supervisor a plaque in appreciation for his support of the judo program since we first started up in 1999.  He also gave a plaque to David Dills, Wilson Park Sports Complex Director for making this event happen!
Torrance Mayor Pro Tem - Tom Brewer makes an appearance and catches Ed by surprise by presenting him with a award "Certificate of Recognition" from the City of Torrance, Mayor Frank Scotto for his dedication and love for all his students and judo.
Let the Competition Begin!
SouthBay manned the table at Mat 4 with Ann Bermudez, Sid Bermudez, Nick Quan and Christian Davey.
Nathan attacks with a koshi-guruma and thows his opponent for IPPON!
Skyler loads up his opponent on to his back and then throws him for IPPON!
Since Myles was still nursing a slight knee sprain, he took the day off from competition to referee.  Here he awards the win to the competitor on "White" side.
Myles in ACTION! OK... just sitting.  Now he's in action refereeing this match.... ready to give a score or call matte or give a penalty, ever vigilant.
I recognize the back of that head anywhere!  That's Alston trying to counter his opponent's attack.
Torrance Cable came out to film our event and Joan and Ed had a chance to try out their public speaking talking about the benefits of judo.  Hopefully, their interview and also action shots of the tournament will be available soon.  We will let you know when the link becomes active.
